"Rito" is the third feature film in the flamenco trilogy ‘La piedra y el centro’. IMPULSO (2018), with the bailaora Rocío Molina, and TRANCE (2021), with the flautist and saxophonist Jorge Pardo, were the first two volumes, dedicated to dance and music. Rito focuses on flamenco singing, with the cantaor Tomás de Perrate as the protagonist. The trilogy is both an exploration of the artistic creation of some of the most important performers of our time and a musical experience within a cinematographic narrative, uncovering a ‘modern geography’ of flamenco, now in a new golden age. I am responsible for coordinating the development of the film "Rito" together with the team at Mallerich Films, a production company based in Barcelona and directed by veteran producer Paco Poch. I have been in charge of the project's kick-off: from the creation of the dossier and visual materials, to the application for public subsidies, laboratories and mentoring.
The documentary was filmed in June and July of 2025, during which I was in charge of directing assistance. The film is scheduled to premiere in early 2026.
